Link Exchanges
A link exchange occurs when two websites agree to link to each other.
For example:
Website A links to Website B.
Website B then links back to Website A.
Natural reciprocal links can occur frequently. Business partners, organizations, suppliers, and related websites may legitimately reference each other.
Problems arise when websites participate in excessive link-exchange programs purely to manipulate rankings.
If every website involved is linking to dozens or hundreds of unrelated sites simply because those sites promise backlinks in return, the links may appear artificial.
